Log Home Maintenance & Restoration |
Maintenance is required to keep your log home looking brand new years into the future. Logs must be protected even if manufacturers pre-treat their logs. Log home stain protection lasts longer then it use to because of the technical improvements and stringent testing the stain companies have done. Most stains require two coats initially and recoat years later based on which stain you use.
Tri-State Log Homes has a crew available that will pressure clean your NEW log home inside and out after the dry-in construction. We will also put a coating of Borate on the exterior of your log home to keep insects away from the logs. We do recommend that the foundation of your home be treated with an insecticide in the same-way a stick-built home is treated. We will then use our moisture meter to determine when your log home is dry enough to stain. The homeowner can stain the home or hire our local crew to stain your home for you. We usually use an airless sprayer and back brush to insure the best saturation of stain.
A traditional stain or wood preservative from a building supply center may not give you the best results. Unless you take action from the very beginning to protect the logs, you could be risking your substantial investment. We have several options and colors available on samples we can show you in our office. We strongly recommend putting a sample of stain on your log home to be sure you are satisfied with the stain color you choose before staining.
RESTORATION: We also provide log home restoration if you currently own a log home that needs restoring. Call our office at 812-386-5647 to make an appointment to see your log home that needs to be repaired, cleaned or stained.
